Sheldon WeekendThe weekend of May 8 - 10th 2009 saw a fully subscribed Weekend away for all the church at the wonderful Sheldon Centre in Devon. 56 people including 29 children enjoyed the beauty of the place, some excellent teaching from Graham Dodds, wonderful cusiine and entertainment. Special activities Preb Graham Dodds lead the Saturday morning session, with an inspirational talk on peoples differing approach to their faith. Apart from two people working in the kitchen, this was attended by all the adults.There were short early morning and night prayer sessions in the small chapel. Each was lead by different lay person.Philip Hawthorn led an all age, and very inclusive communion service on the Sunday morning. Everyone attended.
Children’s activities (during Graham Dodds sessions)Barbara, Lizzie H and Lizzie E laid on some wonderful activities for the under 8’s. (They worked very hard)Tony & Philip helped the older ones make two highly entertaining films. Saturday night A do it yourself entertainment was laid on which included spots from individuals, the two films and a show of the pictures and objects collected during the weekend. WeatherThe weather was great all weekend, warm sunny & dry. This was a real blessing with so many children to entertain. Next year? Feedback shows a clear appetite to go again on 2010.
